Fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and worked swiftly to extinguish the flames, preventing further damage. Authorities are investigating the incident, with preliminary findings suggesting that a short circuit may have caused the fire.
The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela has witnessed multiple fire incidents, with the previous occurrence on February 9 in Sector 19 due to a gas cylinder leak in a ‘Kalpvasi’ tent. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes, but the tent was completely destroyed.
Earlier, on February 7, a fire at the ISKCON camp in Sector 18 spread to 20 tents. A major fire on January 19 in Sector 19 destroyed over a dozen camps after a cylinder blast. On January 25, two parked cars in Sector 2 caught fire due to a short circuit, but no casualties were reported.
