A security guard committed suicide late Thursday evening by jumping in front of the Jan Shatabdi train near the Kankarkheda railway crossing. The train was travelling from Meerut to Muzaffarnagar at the time of the incident.

Eyewitness Account

A cart operator standing near the crossing reported the incident to the authorities. According to the eyewitness:

The incident occurred around 4:00 pm. The victim was already standing near the tracks. As the Jan Shatabdi train approached, he jumped in front of it and died on the spot due to severe injuries.

Police Response And Identification

Upon receiving the information, police teams from Kankarkheda, Sadar, and the GRP (Government Railway Police) arrived at the scene.

Identification: An Aadhaar card found in the victim's pocket identified him as 42-year-old Deepak Sharma, a resident of Chhabriya village in Sardhana.

Action Taken: The body was recovered and sent to the mortuary. The police informed the family through the village head of Chhabriya.

Victim Profile And Family Background

The victim’s brother, Krishna Kumar (a resident of Gokul Vihar, Rohta Road), arrived at the mortuary and provided details about the family. He identified the victim as his elder brother, Deepak, son of the late Ramu Sharma.

Occupation: He worked as a security guard at a law college near Nanu Canal.

Family: He lived in the village with his wife, Pooja Devi and three children:

Daughter: 15-year-old Gungun.

Son: 13-year-old Nigam Kumar.

Daughter: 10-year-old Kumari Avni.

Mental State And Investigation

Recent Events: On December 3, the victim attended the tehravi (13th-day death ritual) of Krishna Kumar’s aunt in Chhabriya village. During the event, it was observed that Deepak appeared mentally distressed.

Official Statement: Kasba outpost in-charge Vineet Kumar stated that despite speaking with the family, the specific reason for the suicide remains unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
