A street parking dispute in Chotpur Colony escalated into a violent clash on Wednesday night, leaving six people injured. The altercation began when a car parked by a relative of Kranti Gupta blocked the narrow street, which can accommodate only one four-wheeler. Tensions flared further when Pappu Yadav’s tenant parked a mini truck (commonly referred to as a “small elephant”) in the same lane, causing complete obstruction of traffic.
An exchange of verbal abuse quickly turned into a physical confrontation. According to reports, one party called in reinforcements, and the situation turned violent, with sticks being used in the attack. Six individuals sustained injuries, including wounds to the head, hands, and legs. All the injured are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital.
The victims have filed a complaint against seven individuals at the Sector 63 police station. Acting swiftly, police have arrested three of the accused and sent them to jail as the investigation continues.
When Kranti Gupta’s son, Rohit, arrived driving his cab and noticed the blocked street, he protested against the improper parking. This led to an argument with neighbor Pappu Yadav. According to police, Rohit allegedly abused and slapped Pappu during the altercation. Infuriated, Pappu Yadav called in several of his associates, who then attacked Rohit and his family members- Kranti, Sanjay, Poonam, Akhilesh, and Suraj-with sticks, rods, and iron bars.
Akhilesh, Rohit's father, suffered a serious head injury, while others sustained injuries to their heads, hands, and legs. As the commotion drew a crowd, the attackers threatened bystanders and fled. Police responded to the scene, and the injured were taken to the district hospital for treatment.
Station-incharge SHO Awadhesh Pratap Singh stated that, based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered against Pappu Yadav, Dhirendra Yadav, Lallu Yadav, Devendra Yadav, and three unidentified individuals. Among them, Pappu, Dhirendra, and Devendra have been arrested and sent to jail. A police team is currently conducting searches to apprehend the remaining absconding accused.
