Noida’s Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Surajpur Wetland have been witnessing the chirping of birds as a large number of migratory birds have arrived in the city with the onset of winter. A large number of bird watchers and tourists are arriving to see the migratory birds.
Marking National Bird Day, the Forest Department is set to create artificial habitats and islands in the wetland and the Okhla Bird Sanctuary to increase the bird population. To increase the number of tourists, it will prepare watchtowers and nature trails.

Additionally, a desk will be set up to provide more information about birds to students. Here, students will be able to learn about the migratory and domestic birds that visit the sanctuary. The management of the wetland and sanctuary will also be equipped to create habitats in advance of the migratory birds' arrival.
Migratory birds from 25 countries make their home in the wetland and the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. Staying for three to four months, they strengthen the biodiversity. Pollution is becoming an obstacle to the birds' migration. The decline in the number of birds in recent years is also a cause for concern.
The Forest Department has started efforts to increase the bird population. An increase in the number of birds is expected for the coming season.
National Bird Day was celebrated at the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. On this occasion, DFO Rajnikant Mittal informed students about birds and wildlife. He stated that a suitable habitat for birds can only be provided through environmental conservation. Tourists and students arriving at the Okhla Bird Sanctuary were told about the behaviour of birds and their importance.
