To address the persistent drinking water and sewage issues in Greater Noida and Greater Noida West, the Greater Noida Authority is preparing to hire a reputed private company under the One City, One Operator scheme. The selected operator will be responsible for overhauling and managing the city’s water supply and sewerage system.
A Detailed Project Report (DPR) for strengthening the water infrastructure is currently being prepared by Arshiya Consulting Engineering Private Limited, which is expected to submit its findings later this month. The DPR includes data on residential and industrial sectors, tubewells, underground reservoirs, overhead tanks, and the existing drinking water pipeline network.
Officials say the rapid rise in population, now estimated at 10-12 lakh, has intensified water scarcity and sewer overflow problems. Contractors currently engaged by the Authority have been unable to resolve sewer blockages, and severe water shortages occur every summer, prompting fears of a worsening crisis in the coming years.
The agency drafting the DPR will also survey ongoing development works under the Master Plan 2021, identify gaps, and submit recommendations. Future work will be aligned with the upcoming Master Plan 2041.

Greater Noida currently supplies 215 MLD of groundwater and 85 MLD of Ganga water through 215 tubewells to residential and industrial users.
Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar said the selection process for experienced operators will begin soon. “Work is underway under the One City One Operator scheme to improve water supply and sewerage. Separate companies will be appointed for Greater Noida and Greater Noida West,” he said.
