Cybercriminals siphoned off Rs 148,000 from a young woman’s bank account after sending a fraudulent link to update a delivery address. The cyber team at the Nauchandi police station has registered a case against unknown persons and initiated an investigation.
According to the complaint filed by Utkarsh Khanna, a resident of Kunj Vihar in the Nauchandi area, his sister, Komal Khanna, had ordered shampoo online on November 8. On November 26, she received an SMS on her mobile phone claiming that the package delivery had failed. The message included a link prompting her to update her address.
Upon clicking the link, Rs 148,000 was deducted from Komal's bank account in two separate transactions. The victim immediately reported the incident to the national cyber helpline number 1930.
Station House Officer (SHO) Ilam Singh Panwar confirmed that a case has been registered based on the victim's complaint, and the cyber cell team is currently investigating the matter.
