Prayagraj: Viral Video Shows Mother-in-Law Mocking And Shouting At Woman In Labour Pain, Sparks Outrage | WATCH

Prayagraj Viral Video: A video from a Prayagraj hospital has gone viral on social media, showing a mother-in-law shouting at her daughter-in-law inside a labour room as doctors prepared for delivery. The elderly woman was reportedly insisting on a natural delivery, despite doctors and the husband considering a caesarean section due to complications.

The video, shared by gynaecologist Dr Naaz Fatima, shows the elderly woman berating the pregnant woman, mocking her cries of pain and telling her to “shut up” during labour. The family had reportedly travelled from Varanasi to Prayagraj for the delivery. In the clip, the mother-in-law can be heard saying, “Shut up or I’ll break your mouth. How will you become a mother if you keep on crying like this?” She even scolded her daughter-in-law for holding her son’s hand, asking her to let go, as other relatives tried to calm her down.

Dr Fatima, who recorded and shared the incident, used the video to highlight the importance of compassion towards women during childbirth. Posting on Instagram, she wrote that families should offer “love and patience” rather than anger or humiliation during such stressful moments. She added that labour pain is one of the most intense experiences a woman goes through and must be met with understanding, not criticism.

The video quickly gained traction online, drawing widespread condemnation. Many users expressed outrage at the mother-in-law’s behaviour, while others criticised the husband for not standing up for his wife.

One user commented, “Hard to watch a pregnant woman being disrespected while no one said a word. Age doesn’t give anyone the right to be cruel. Being old isn’t a free pass for bad behaviour.” Another wrote, “People are focusing on the mother-in-law, but the husband’s silence is equally problematic. He failed to protect his wife when she needed him most.”
