Sambhal News: In a significant development, Sambhal Member of Parliament (MP) Zia Ur Rehman Barq has initiated the demolition of a portion of his residence in compliance with an order from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). The order was passed due to alleged illegal construction that deviated from the approved building plan.
The controversy began when the MP was issued a notice nearly nine months ago by the regularisation department, accusing him of constructing his house without obtaining the necessary permits. The case was later heard in the SDM court, where the MP was fined Rs 1.35 lakh and directed to demolish the offending portion of the house within a month.
The SDM's order, passed on August 12, stated that the MP and his father had jointly submitted a revised building plan, which was found to be non-compliant with the prescribed standards. A penalty of Rs 1.35 lakh was imposed under the Uttar Pradesh Regulation of Building Operations Act, and a demolition fee of Rs 5,707 was also levied.
The order specifically directed the MP to remove a 1-meter-wide and 14.30-meter-long section of the house, which was constructed in violation of the approved plan. The deadline for compliance was set as September 12. However, three days before the deadline, labourers were engaged to demolish the specified portion of the house.
It is worth noting that the MP had been fined twice earlier for failing to provide evidence on time and for wasting the court's time. Despite the threat of administrative action, including cancellation of the approved plan and demolition of the structure, the MP has taken proactive steps to comply with the order.
The development highlights the complexities of building regulations and the consequences of non-compliance, even for public figures like MPs. The MP's decision to demolish the offending portion of his house demonstrates a willingness to adhere to the law, even if it means taking drastic measures.
