Following the recent enhancement of benefits under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana (Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme), the Uttar Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Department is preparing to increase financial assistance for daughters from economically weaker families in the backward classes.

Currently, the department’s Shaadi Anudan Yojana (Marriage Grant Scheme) provides Rs 20,000 per daughter for families with an annual income of up to Rs 1 lakh, with a maximum of two daughters per family eligible. Income certificates are mandatory for applicants, though widows and destitute applicants are exempt.

The new proposal seeks to increase the grant to Rs 60,000, aligning it with the assistance provided under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana. Under the mass marriage scheme, the government recently raised the total benefit per couple from Rs 51,000 to Rs 1 lakh, with Rs 60,000 directly transferred to the bride’s account and gifts worth Rs 25,000 provided to the newlyweds.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare, Narendra Kashyap, stated that the proposal will significantly benefit poor families from the backward classes and address long-standing demands for parity with the Chief Minister’s scheme.
