The event on the ocassion of the 369th Death Anniversary of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan began on Tuesday in the Taj Mahal with the Ghusl ritual. The basement of the main mausoleum was opened after Azaan, on the first day of the three-day celebration. Gulposhi (flower bedspread spreading) was done after bathing Shahjahan and Mumtaz's graves.

Prayers for peace and tranquillity were offered. During this time, there were a large number of Indian and foreign tourists. Shahjahan's death anniversary is celebrated on the 25th, 26th, and 27th of Rajab in the Islamic calendar.

On the first day, Haji Mirza Asim Baig read Azaan in the main mausoleum at 2 PM on Tuesday, after which the crypt was opened. Hafiz Tanveer Jamali recited the tilab, while Imam Maulana Murtaza of Fatehpuri Masjid read the Kalam.

Gulposhi was completed after Ghusl. Prayers for peace and happiness were offered throughout the country. Following the prayer, Tawarruk was distributed. Shehnai was played at the Royal Gate, while Qawwali was performed at the main mausoleum. Ibrahim Zaidi, Chairman of the Urs Celebration Committee, Zahid Khan, Tahiruddin Tahir, Sufi Ansar, Liaquat Ali, Arif Taimuri, Munajjar Ali, and others were among those in attendance.

On the first day of the event, Indian and foreign tourists were given free entry into the memorial beginning at 2 PM. Since entry was free, there was a large crowd of tourists. At the memorial, 100 volunteers, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) employees have been deployed to ensure security and crowd management.
