Due to the persistent fog, train speeds have not improved. Trains are running between 6 to 14 hours late, forcing passengers to endure extreme hardships in the biting cold.
Howrah Rajdhani Rescheduled By Nearly 7.45 Hours
The Howrah Rajdhani (12302) arriving in Prayagraj was rescheduled from New Delhi on Monday by 7 hours and 40 minutes. It is expected to arrive today on Tuesday after 2:00 pm, running 14 hours behind schedule. This train was originally supposed to arrive in Prayagraj on Monday night at 11:41 pm.
Railway Claims Ring Hollow Amid Delays
Passengers are distressed and wondering what their fault is in this situation. They booked tickets in advance, reserved seats, and planned their schedules accordingly, but the train delays have ruined everything. It is unknown when this cycle will end; meanwhile, all technology and official claims have proven to be hollow.
Fog Shakes The Foundation Of Railway Technology
For several years, the Railways has claimed that fog would not affect train speeds and that trains would run on time even in low visibility. To achieve this, trains are being operated using Fog Safe Devices, Electronic Interlocking, Advanced Signaling Systems, and computerized operations. However, in the face of the fog, all these technologies and claims appear to be limited only to paper.
Status Of Major Trains
Prayagraj Express: Running 5.15 hours late on Monday; expected to arrive after 1:00 pm today (Scheduled time: 7:00 am).
Rewa Express: Delayed by 6 hours.
Humsafar Express: Running 6.5 hours late; expected in the afternoon.
Shivganga, Lichchavi, and Purushottam Express: These daily trains are also running significantly late.
Vande Bharat (22436): Delayed by 2.5 hours.
North East Express: Delayed by 5 hours.
Jammu Mail And Nandan Kanan: Running 3 hours behind schedule.
