Drivers parked their trucks in the middle of the road near Nagla Alai, blocking one lane. Stones were thrown on the road to prevent other vehicles from moving. Other passenger vehicles traveling from Lucknow and Agra stopped midway due to the violent protest.

When the police arrived on the scene after receiving the information, they attempted to clear the expressway by using lathi-charge. The crowd of drivers pelted stones at the police while they were removing the stones. For about 10 minutes, both sides pelted each other with stones. Seeing the tense situation, the police opened fire in the air, later dispersing everyone with tear gas shells and smoothing out traffic by removing stones from the road.
