Unnao Accident: At least 18 people including a child died and 19 others were injured after a double-decker bus collided with a milk tanker on Lucknow-Agra Expressway under the Behtamujawar police station area. The accident occurred on Wednesday at 5:30 AM when a sleeper bus going from Sitamarhi in Bihar to Delhi rammed into a milk container in the Unnao District of Uttar Pradesh.
On receiving the information of the incident, Behtamujawar police reached the spot, rescued all injured and admitted them to CHC Bangarmau for treatment and necessary action is being taken, officials said.

"Today at around 05.15 AM, a private bus coming from Motihari, Bihar collided with a milk tanker. 18 people have lost their lives and 19 others are injured in the accident. After the initial investigation, it looks like the bus was overspeeding. The injured are getting treatment..." Unnano DM Gaurang Rathi said as quoted by news agency ANI.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the road accident in the Unnao district and expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. The chief minister directed the officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite the relief work.

Meanwhile, State Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak met the injured persons admitted to the hospital and assured proper treatment to them.
Taking a Unnao incident into consideration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Unnao. The injured would be given Rs 50,000.

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed grief over the incident, calling it 'extremely sad'. "The news of the death of many people in a road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh is extremely sad", an official statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a post on 'X'
