The Uttar Pradesh government has formally approved the record hike in the State Advised Price (SAP) for sugarcane for the 2025-26 crushing season. The proposal, based on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s October 29 announcement of a Rs 30 increase, was cleared during a cabinet meeting held on Friday.

With this approval, farmers will receive Rs 400 per quintal for the early variety of sugarcane, Rs 390 per quintal for the normal variety, and Rs 355 per quintal for the unsuitable variety. Following the decision, the Sugarcane Department has begun the process of issuing payments at the revised rates.
