Digital reforms in the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme have made healthcare services accessible on mobile phones, significantly simplifying and speeding up the treatment process in UP. Facilities such as booking doctor appointments, home delivery of medicines, and access to test reports are now available through a mobile app, QR codes, and one-click services, enhancing transparency and convenience for beneficiaries.

Through the AAA Plus app, ESI beneficiaries can schedule doctor consultations, order medicines for home delivery, and view diagnostic reports on a single digital platform. In addition, the Dhanwantari Module has been fully implemented across all ESI hospitals and dispensaries in the state. With this rollout, patients’ complete medical records are being securely maintained in digital form, improving continuity of care and follow-up treatment.

The QR microsite provides comprehensive information, including geo-locations of hospitals and dispensaries, OPD and laboratory services, reimbursement claim checklists, required forms, and helpline numbers, making essential details easily accessible to patients.

Principal Secretary of the Department of Labour and Employment, Dr MK Shanmuga Sundaram, said that voluntary organisations are being involved to further strengthen the ESI scheme. In collaboration with the Piramal Foundation, efforts are underway to improve the use of the Dhanwantari Module in hospitals and dispensaries, collect patient feedback through QR codes, and undertake geo-tagging of establishments and medical institutions using a catchment-area approach. Similarly, with support from Ashoka University, geo-locations of hospitals and dispensaries have been integrated into the QR microsite.

Meanwhile, a mobile health unit has been launched for the health protection and awareness of construction workers registered with the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. In the first phase, health check-ups for 10,000 construction workers have been targeted. Under this initiative, free basic health examinations are being conducted at construction sites, with around 45 medical tests available and at least 100 workers are examined at each site.

Officials said these digital initiatives and outreach programmes are aimed at improving efficiency, accessibility, and quality of healthcare services under the ESI framework, ensuring better medical support for workers and beneficiaries across the state.
