The Yogi Adityanath government has prepared a comprehensive blueprint to launch a crackdown—termed a 'surgical strike'—against infiltrators in Uttar Pradesh. Under the state's zero-tolerance policy, a campaign has been initiated to identify illegal residents, a move aimed at bolstering internal security and ensuring that government benefits reach only eligible citizens.
Security Crackdown And Detention Centres
The government plans to identify infiltrators and relocate them to detention centres.
Impenetrable Security: The proposed detention centres will feature "impenetrable" security arrangements to prevent breaches.
Crime Control: This strict action is expected to facilitate better control over criminals and illegal activities, particularly in border districts.
Law And Order: The administration anticipates a decrease in the crime rate and a further improvement in the state's law and order situation, thereby boosting public confidence.
Protection Of Government Benefits And Employment
The initiative aims to curb the misuse of public funds by ineligible individuals.
Targeting Beneficiaries: By identifying infiltrators, the government intends to stop ineligible persons from accessing welfare schemes, ensuring that benefits reach only rightful claimants. This will also help curb corruption.
Employment Boost: The removal of illegal residents is expected to clear the competition for jobs, opening up new avenues for local youth and workers. The government states this will allow local youth to access employment opportunities more easily.
Improvement In Citizen Services
The crackdown is also projected to enhance the efficiency of citizen services.
Faster Processing: The government expects a significant reduction in turnaround times for services such as passports, police verifications and licenses.
Fraud Reduction: A decrease in incidents related to fake IDs and fraud is anticipated.
The state government asserts that these stringent measures will create a safer environment and reinforce residents' trust in the administration.
