Good news for Buddhists and Sikhs! Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to launch two pilgrimage schemes for devotees of these communities. The government will provide a minimum grant of Rs 10,000 per person for both schemes, which will be operated in collaboration with IRCTC.

The Chief Minister emphasised that pilgrimages are a medium of spiritual upliftment and social harmony in Indian culture. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of the state government to assist its citizens in reaching the places associated with their faith. In a high-level meeting held on Saturday, the Chief Minister directed officials to start the 'Buddhist Tirtha Darshan Yojana' for specific pilgrimages of Buddhist devotees and the 'Panch Takht Yatra Yojana' for Sikh devotees.

Through these schemes, the government will provide financial assistance to the devotees going on pilgrimage, so that they can easily travel to the pilgrimage sites associated with their faith. The Chief Minister directed officials to implement both schemes giving top priority to the convenience, security, and religious faith of the devotees.

These schemes will further strengthen the inclusive development policy of the state and the spirit of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas". It will give a new dimension to the religious tolerance and tourism of the state, as well as give concrete form to the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.

The Buddhist Tirtha Darshan Yojana will fulfil the desire of Buddhist devotees residing in Uttar Pradesh to visit Buddhist pilgrimage sites located in different parts of the country. The Chief Minister directed to give priority to Buddhist monks in selecting the beneficiaries of this scheme.

The Panch Takht Yatra Yojana is for Sikh devotees. Under this, Sikh devotees residing in Uttar Pradesh will be taken on a tour of five holy 'Takht Sahib' sites located in the country. The holy Panch Takht sites for the Sikh sect include "Shri Anandpur Sahib Punjab, Shri Akal Takht Sahib Amritsar Punjab, Shri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo Punjab, Shri Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib Nanded Maharashtra and Shri Harmandir Ji Sahib (Patna Sahib) Patna Bihar".

In both schemes, a minimum amount of Rs 10,000 per person will be given as a grant. The Chief Minister has directed that the application process for both schemes should be completely online, with complete transparency in the selection of devotees and preference should be given to people from weaker income groups.
