In a major move to strengthen flood control infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved projects worth over Rs 200 crore across several districts, including Gorakhpur, Shravasti, Amethi, Sitapur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, and Bulandshahr. These projects, funded by both the state and NABARD, include the installation of RCC pillars, embankment repairs, anti-erosion measures, and the construction of pumping stations.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure strict monitoring and warned that any negligence in execution will not be tolerated. In Gorakhpur, a NABARD-funded project of Rs 57 crore has received financial clearance for the construction of a pumping station near the Maniram-Domingarh embankment on the right bank of the Rohin river.

Additionally, another project worth Rs 54.51 crore has been sanctioned for a pumping station and related works on the Machhali Gaon-Algatpur embankment, along with Rs 12.50 crore for RCC pillar installation in the Rapti river flood plain. Amethi will see the construction of new RCC VRBs replacing damaged ones on the Akbarganj, Gulalpur, and Harkaranpur canal drains, with a budget of Rs 2.30 crore.
