The UP government has announced financial assistance of Rs 20,000 for the marriage of daughters belonging to economically weak Other Backward Class (OBC) families (excluding minority OBC categories). Noida District Backward Classes Welfare Officer Lavesh Sisodia informed that eligible families can apply for the scheme online, and the amount will be provided after verification.

Applications can be submitted up to 90 days before or 90 days after the wedding. To qualify, the bride must be at least 18 years old, and the groom must be 21 or above. The annual family income must not exceed Rs 1 lakh in both rural and urban areas.

Beneficiaries already receiving old-age, disability, or widow pensions will be exempt from submitting an income certificate and will only need to provide their pension registration number. The applicant must also have a bank account in a nationalised bank, as District Cooperative Bank accounts are not accepted on the PFMS portal.

Required documents include an ID card, bank passbook, wedding invitation card, age proof of the daughter, Aadhaar card, and a photograph of the applicant.
