To increase awareness about cybersecurity and ensure digital security for the public, the Raj Bhavan has decided to enhance cybersecurity skills by conducting cybersecurity courses in UP universities.
The five universities selected for this as a pilot project include Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur; Bundelkhand University, Jhansi; Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut; Siddharth University, Siddharthnagar; and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University.
As per the plan, the universities will receive support from IIT Kanpur and the C3iHub. The course curriculum will be prepared by them. Regarding this, a meeting was held on November 16 at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, where the course, structure, credit system, and the direction for its implementation in universities were decided.
Cybersecurity experts from IIT Kanpur and the C3iHub also participated in this meeting. The objective of this initiative is to enhance the skills of the youth, make them capable of future employment opportunities, and self-reliant in the field of cybersecurity. The Raj Bhavan has described the implementation of this course as the need of the hour.
After receiving instructions from the Raj Bhavan, the university administration has started deliberations on launching the course. Serious consideration is being given to which department will run this course and how its benefits can be extended to the maximum number of young people.

The complete structure of the course, information on its implementation, and the admission process will soon be available on the university's website. The Raj Bhavan is emphasising the swift implementation of the course. This step by the Raj Bhavan has the potential to give a new direction to digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness in the state.
In an era of increasing cybercrime, this type of training is not only the need of the hour but will also play a significant role in the career development of the youth. When the youth become aware of cybersecurity, awareness will spread throughout society through them. -Prof. Poonam Tandon, Vice-Chancellor, DDU Gorakhpur University.
