Citing the example of the eradication of the serious disease encephalitis from some areas of Purvanchal, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that as a result of intensive surveillance, not a single child now dies in these areas, whereas previously more than 1,000 children would fall seriously ill or lose their lives. He said that analysing data through AI will make it easier to control diseases and reach vulnerable neighbourhoods.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that seven Centres of Excellence are now being established in UP. Lucknow is being developed as an AI City, and a data centre ecosystem will be created in the state. A sum of Rs 3,000 crore will be spent on the AI mission in UP. He added that UP will now be capable of providing a technology-based model to the world.
There has been a significant improvement in the telemedicine system, and maternal and infant mortality rates have decreased. The state now has 81 medical colleges and two AIIMS in operation. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the state operated virtual ICUs and increased the number of ICU beds in all 75 districts.
Now, UP's statistics have improved to nearly the national average. The Chief Minister said that the construction of a medical device park and a pharma park in Uttar Pradesh is progressing on a war footing.
The construction of a MedTech Centre of Excellence at SGPGI, Lucknow, and an Artificial Intelligence and Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship Centre of Excellence in Gautam Buddha Nagar is also underway. He said that he is pleased to state that, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh is embarking on a new journey towards skilling its youth, under which seven Centres of Excellence are being developed in the state.
The double-engine government is rapidly advancing with double speed on a new journey from 'scale to skill' and 'skill to speed'. CM Yogi Adityanath said that before 2017, a total of 40 private and government medical colleges were operational in Uttar Pradesh, whereas today this number has increased to 81.
Currently, 81 medical colleges and two AIIMS are functional in the state. When the trust of the person at the lowest rung of society in the government is strengthened, schemes are seen to progress rapidly.
As part of the commitment to make the state a powerhouse in the health and innovation sectors, experts from around the world will present at the Regional AI Summit, organised by the IT and Health departments. They will discuss the changes AI will bring to the entire medical landscape, from patient surveillance, diagnosis, and treatment to follow-up.
