A man in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj is planning to approach the police after his phone number was shown during Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi's press conference on Thursday.

According to a report by India Today, the man identified as Anjani Mishra has been receiving back-to-back calls after his number was shown in Gandhi's press conference.

Mishra, who lives in Prayagraj and works as a sales professional, asserted that he has been using the number for over 15 years.

He added that he has not filed any application for deletion, and so was surprised to see his mobile phone number being displayed during the press briefing. He added that he has been receiving calls, due to which he was upset and therefore will file a harassment complaint.

On September 18, Rahul Gandhi exploded his much-hyped Hydrogen Bomb on vote chori. This time, he alleged a major voter deletion attempt using software during his press conference at the Congress’s Indira Bhawan headquarters in Delhi.

During his presentation, Gandhi accused the Election Commission and others of being complicit in a systematic "vote chori" (vote theft).

Alleging "mass vote deletions" in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi said, "This deletion of votes has been done in a centralised manner, using software, and not through individuals," he said. According to Gandhi, attempts were made to delete as many as 6,018 voters in the Aland constituency in 2023.

The fraudulent applications impersonating the real voters were filed automatically using mobile numbers. All this was done from outside Karnataka, he said.

Reacting to the allegations, the EC called the allegations baseless and incorrect. The poll body said, "No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Gandhi. No deletion can take place without giving an opportunity of being heard to the affected person".
