Hardoi News: In a strange incident that came to light from UP's Hardoi, a village secretary sought two thousand rupees from a young man who had gone to get his wife's death certificate issued. When he refused to give the money, the secretary made the young man's death certificate rather than his wife's.
When the case reached the DM, the female village secretary was suspended, and a report was made against her. The young man has been issued the wife's death certificate.
Shanti Devi, Vishwanath's wife, died on December 19, 2024, at Atwa village, Kothawan. Vishwanath stated that he went to the village secretary, Sarita Devi, to get his wife's death certificate made. It is claimed that initially, the village secretary continued delaying him for two days. After this, she requested Rs 2000.

When he failed to pay the money, she made him run around from December 27 to January 3. On January 3, Vishwanath received his death certificate rather than that of his wife, Shanti Devi. He didn't see the death certificate on the spot, but when he got home, he was stunned.
He approached the District Magistrate, Mangala Prasad Singh, on Tuesday afternoon at about 2 PM. He presented an application and described the issue. He explained that he had gone to collect his wife's death certificate. When he did not pay Rs 2000, his death certificate was made and issued.
The striking thing was that Sarita did not sign the death certificate herself, but rather with the name of the village secretary Dharamveer Gautam, who was transferred one and a half months ago. The DM took a harsh stance on the entire situation. By 8 PM, Block Development Officer Mahesh Chandra Atwa of Kothawan arrived and handed over his wife Shanti Devi's death certificate to Vishwanath.
Village secretary Sarita Devi has been suspended by District Panchayat Raj Officer Vinay Kumar Singh following the DM's directives. An FIR has also been lodged against the village secretary.
