UP News: Three family members reportedly died after eating roasted "chana" that was bought from a single street vendor in Mohammadpur Barwala village, which is under the Narsena police jurisdiction of Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district.
Kalua Singh, 50, his 8-year-old grandson Lavish, and other family members bought roasted "chana" from a market vendor on the evening of November 24. They ate a usual meal at home later that night. But on the morning of November 25, tragedy struck when Kalua Singh and his young grandson, Lavish, were discovered dead. Overnight, their condition worsened, and by the next day, they were dead.
On Tuesday, November 26, the family's daughter-in-law, Jogendra, died after being hospitalised for treatment. The tragic fatalities have generated major worries, while the remaining family members, including a little girl, continue to get medical care.
Senior police authorities, including Bulandshahr SSP Shlok Kumar, conducted a thorough inquiry into the fatalities. According to SSP Kumar, initial reports indicated that the four family members became ill after eating the roasted gram, and the cause of their illness and eventual deaths will be determined through autopsies.
The body of Jogendra, the deceased woman, was subjected to a postmortem investigation on Tuesday; the findings are anticipated to yield important details about the cause of death. On Monday, Lavish and Kalua Singh were cremated without an autopsy. To elucidate any connections between the deaths and the food consumed, investigators are currently awaiting the final reports.
Vineet Kumar, the food safety officer, confirmed that samples of the roasted gram and other foods the family ate were being sent to the lab for analysis. The authorities will take the proper legal measures against the vendor if any contamination or dangerous materials are found. To make sure that food safety regulations are followed, the Food Safety Department is keeping a careful eye on the issue.
Locals have been advised to use caution while buying food from street vendors while investigations are ongoing.
