Students of PM Shri scheme schools will soon get a platform to showcase their creativity and expression through quarterly magazines to be published for the first time in all such schools across Uttar Pradesh. The initiative aims to promote writing skills, critical thinking, communication, and creative expression among students.
With approval from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, schools have begun compiling student-written content for publication. A district-level editorial board has also been constituted to oversee editing and production of the magazines.
The board will be chaired by the principal of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and include a literature-inclined Block Education Officer, two PM Shri school teachers, a DIET lecturer, and an SRG member. To ensure student representation, two male and two female students from PM Shri schools in each district will serve as special invited members.
Headteachers have been instructed to submit selected student work to the editorial board by the 10th of every month. After scrutiny and evaluation, the best entries, including poems, articles, stories, essays, one-act plays, puzzles, and science, sports, culture, theatre, and environment-related pieces, will be published.
A total budget of Rs 97.584 lakh has been approved for publishing the first and second quarterly editions, which have been allocated to 1,129 composite schools in the state. Required materials will be procured through the GeM portal. The magazines will be published in December and February.
Officials said the initiative will help encourage students’ creative abilities, enhance knowledge-sharing, and foster a positive and participatory learning environment in schools.
