The Uttar Pradesh government is set to fill numerous vacant posts in the Revenue Department, including Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, Lekhpal, and Junior Assistant positions. Requisitions have been sent to the relevant recruitment commissions for the recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, Lekhpals, and Junior Assistants, while approximately 300 vacant Tehsildar posts will be filled through promotions.

According to official sources, the Revenue Council has submitted requisitions to the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission for 7,994 Lekhpal and 1,756 Junior Assistant vacancies. In the financial year 2023-24, a requisition was sent to the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission for direct recruitment to 258 Naib Tehsildar posts, with preparations underway to request recruitment for an additional 67 posts in 2025-26. Furthermore, 47 Naib Tehsildar posts have already been filled through promotions.

Following instructions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a recent Revenue Department review meeting, the government has prioritised the timely filling of all vacant posts to expedite the resolution of revenue disputes. The promotion process for about 300 Tehsildar vacancies is currently underway.

Additionally, efforts have commenced to fill 1,687 Junior Assistant posts in the Collectorate Establishment and 69 Junior Assistant posts in various divisions. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission has also initiated the recruitment process for Junior Assistant positions, many of which have remained vacant since 2017.
