The UP government has initiated beautification and development projects in Varanasi to attract tourists. Work is set to begin on enhancing five major ghats and others to make them centers of attraction. Projects worth Rs 32.93 crore have been approved for their renovation, beautification, and development of tourism facilities. 

An initial installment of Rs 13 crore has been released to commence the work. Since the construction of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Varanasi has seen a steady increase in tourist arrivals. Development work is being undertaken to enhance the experience of visitors. Rs 6.20 crore will be spent on the beautification and tourism development of Assi Ghat, with an initial installment of Rs 2.50 crore released.

Rs 6.14 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation from Assi Ghat to Dashashwamedh Ghat, of which Rs 2.50 crore has been released. Rs 6.16 crore will be spent on the renovation and beautification of the ghats from Dashashwamedh Ghat to Kashi Vishwanath Temple Ghat, with Rs 2.50 crore already released. 

A project worth Rs 8.24 crore has been approved for the ghats between Assi Ghat and Ravidas Ghat, and Rs 3 crore has been released. The renovation, beautification, and tourism development of the ghats between Golaghat and Namo Ghat will cost Rs 6.17 crore, with Rs 2.50 crore already released. 

Work on the widening and beautification of Ramghat in Chitrakoot will also be expedited. Following the initial installment of Rs 75 lakh released last year, an additional Rs 12.50 crore has been allocated.
