In a major relief initiative for electricity consumers troubled by incorrect billing, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation will conduct a state-level electricity bill revision campaign from July 17 to 19. Special camps will be set up in all electricity distribution blocks to address billing-related grievances.
Each camp will operate daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will have the presence of the Executive Engineer (Distribution), Sub-Divisional Officer, and Assistant Engineer (Meter), along with their teams. Consumers' complaints will be addressed on the spot, and efforts will be made to resolve all issues within one week. After correction, a bill revision memo will be issued, which will be accessible to consumers through their online accounts.
Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL), Dr Ashish Kumar Goyal, stated that the campaign will also entertain complaints related to new electricity connections, load enhancement, faulty meters, bill amendments, mode changes, bill submissions, and other service-related issues. The responsibility for ensuring timely resolutions has been assigned to the Directors (Commerce) of Vidyut Vitran Nigam and UPPCL.
He added that the Power Corporation is committed to issuing accurate bills to consumers, in line with the directives of the Chief Minister and the Energy Minister. Steps have been taken to minimise human error in meter readings, including the adoption of automated systems. However, due to persistent complaints from the public and elected representatives, the decision to hold this mega camp was taken.
To ensure wide participation, instructions have been issued to publicise the campaign across multiple platforms. The Superintending Engineer (Distribution) will serve as the nodal officer for the initiative, while complaint registration at the camps will be mandatory through the 1912 help desk. Officers have been directed to accurately record all applicant details.
