The industrial corridor being established by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) adjacent to the Ganga Expressway continues to attract significant interest from domestic and foreign investors.
On Monday, a high-level team from Ball Beverage Pvt Ltd, the Indian unit of the American multinational Ball Corporation, visited the site to inspect the land and discuss infrastructure timelines. This marks the company's second visit, following an initial inspection on October 16.
Key Investment Details
Company Profile: Ball Beverage Packaging Pvt Ltd primarily manufactures durable and recyclable aluminium cans for beverages (beer, soft drinks) and household products.
Proposal: The company has requested 16 hectares of land in the corridor.
Estimated Investment: Officials project an investment of Rs 3,000 crore.
The Site Visit And Meeting
The visiting team included the company's Project Head, Michael Rubik, and Sunil Ojha from the project construction consultancy agency. They were accompanied by Narendra Singh, Land Acquisition Officer of UPEIDA, who travelled from Lucknow for the inspection.
Meeting Highlights
Duration: The team held a detailed three-hour meeting with various government officials at a petrol pump located on the highway.
Focus Of Discussion: According to UPEIDA officials, the company did not inquire about the availability of facilities, but rather the timeline for their implementation. Specific inquiries were made regarding:
- Time required for environmental clearances.
- Setup of electricity supply systems.
- Installation and availability of gas pipelines (discussed with Indraprastha Gas Ltd. officials).
Official Assessment: Narendra Singh, Land Acquisition Officer (UPEIDA), noted that the nature of the inquiries suggests the company views the Meerut location favourably.
Administrative Presence
Following a letter from the Additional Chief Executive Officer of UPEIDA regarding the visit, a wide array of district and departmental officials were present at the site to address queries, including:
- Deependra Kumar: Deputy Commissioner of Industries
- Rishabh Saxena: Invest UP (Udyog Mitra)
- Ravi Prajapati: Tehsildar
- Technical Officials: Chief Fire Officer, Regional Pollution Officer, and the Manager of Indraprastha Gas Ltd.
- Engineering Depts: Executive Engineers from the Power Corporation, PWD, Jal Nigam and Minor Irrigation.
Next Steps And Broader Context
Future Proceedings: A final meeting involving the company, UPEIDA, and the Chief Minister is expected to take place in Lucknow soon to finalise contract proceedings.
Corridor Interest: The industrial corridor has seen robust activity in recent months. Teams from over 50 companies have visited the site, and over 1,000 applications for land allotment have already been received.
