Three separate incidents involving trains occurred between Prayagraj and Gorakhpur stations, resulting in the deaths of three stray animals. The incidents involved the Vande Bharat Express, Prayagraj-Lucknow Intercity Express, and a goods train, Jagran.com reported.
Vande Bharat Express Incident
The Vande Bharat Express train, which runs from Prayagraj to Gorakhpur station, hit a stray animal near Kundanganj station, resulting in the animal's death. The loco pilot applied emergency brakes to stop the train, but unfortunately, one animal was hit and killed. The engineering team from Unchahar station arrived at the scene and removed the animal's body from the tracks. The train was stopped for about 25 minutes at the site.
Prayagraj-Lucknow Intercity Express Incident
The Prayagraj-Lucknow Intercity Express train encountered a herd of animals between Lakshimpur and Dariapur stations, resulting in the death of one animal. The loco pilot applied emergency brakes to stop the train, but one animal was hit and killed. The engineering team from Unchahar arrived at the scene and removed the animal's body from the tracks. The train was halted for approximately 35 minutes.
Goods Train Incident
A goods train hit a stray animal between Unchahar and Jhalalpur stations, causing the animal's death. The goods train was stopped for around 24 minutes.
Prompt Action By Loco Pilots
In all incidents, the loco pilots took prompt action by applying emergency brakes to minimize damage. The Vande Bharat Express's loco pilot informed Lucknow and Delhi headquarters about the incident, while the Intercity Express's loco pilot informed the Lucknow control room.
Statement from Railway Official
According to Pawan Kumar, Assistant Divisional Engineer, Prayagraj, teams were dispatched to the scenes to clear the tracks and restore normal operations. The teams worked efficiently to remove the animal bodies from the tracks, ensuring minimal disruption to train services.
