The Kendriya Sangharsh Samiti has announced a complete shutdown (Bandh) across Western Uttar Pradesh on December 17 to press for their long-standing demand for a High Court bench in the region.
The decision was finalised during a joint meeting of the Meerut Bar Association and the District Bar Association held on Tuesday at the Subhash Chandra Bose Auditorium.
Scope Of The Shutdown
According to the committee, the shutdown will be comprehensive. To ensure the protest is successful, the committee has sought cooperation from all political, non-political, social and trade organisations, as well as the general public.
Services Suspended: Bus and tempo services will not operate.
Closures: All courts And markets will remain closed.
Sanjay Sharma, President of the Meerut Bar and Chairman of the Kendriya Sangharsh Samiti, alongside Convenor Rajendra Singh Rana, confirmed that normal operations in courts, markets, and public transport will be suspended for the day.

Strategic Meetings And Mobilisation
Following the initial decision on Tuesday, further mobilization efforts are underway:
Wednesday Meeting: A joint general meeting of both bar associations is scheduled for today (Wednesday) at the Pandit Nanak Chand Auditorium. All advocates and candidates of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council have been invited to participate.
Key Attendees at Tuesday's Meeting: The meeting saw the presence of senior legal representatives, including:
Current Leadership: Rajiv Tyagi (District Bar Association President), Amit Rana (General Secretary).
Former Presidents: Ajay Tyagi, Gajendra Singh Dhama, Satish Gupta, Dhirendra Dutt Sharma.
Former General Secretaries: Amit Dixit, Sudhir Panwar, Devki Nandan Sharma, Anil Jangala.
Support From Trade Associations
The legal fraternity has successfully garnered support from local trade bodies, ensuring a wider impact for the shutdown.
Sotiganj Trade Association: Bar officials met with the association's office-bearers on Tuesday. President Raman Sehgal, Vice Presidents Ajay Kumar and Chaman Anand, and General Secretary Abid Khan announced their full support and declared that the Sotiganj market would remain closed.
Rohta Road Trade Association: In a separate meeting, the Rohta Road leadership also extended their backing. President Sushil Kumar, General Secretary Rajan Singh Tewatia, Senior Vice President Ankit Garg, and Mohar Singh Saini confirmed their full support for the shutdown.
