The Uttarakhand government has increased the uniform allowance and uniform washing allowance for Forest Range Officers, Foresters, Forest Guards and Jamadars working in the Forest Department. This is the first significant revision since 2011, with the allowances now raised by two to seven times.

Forest personnel in the state work in challenging and high-risk conditions, from plains to remote hill regions, to protect forests and wildlife. They regularly face threats from wild animals, forest fires, extreme weather, landslides and timber smugglers. To boost their morale, the government has revised the allowances.
