With the onset of the festive season, the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) witnessed heavy passenger rush on Saturday, with travellers heading to Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Delhi, Gurgaon, Haldwani, Tanakpur, and Faridabad.

Long queues were seen at the Haldwani and Bareilly ticket counters, where passengers faced extended waiting times. The growing crowd led to instances of pushing and shoving, and heated arguments broke out among those waiting in line.

As the crowd at the railway station swelled, several passengers made their way to the ISBT, further increasing congestion at the ticket counters after 5 PM. Some passengers even approached drivers and conductors directly to secure tickets.

To manage the rush, the Roadways department dispatched four additional Volvo, two AC, and one ordinary bus on Saturday for the Delhi, Gurgaon, and Bareilly routes. This came a day after 14 buses, including Volvos, were sent out on various routes.

ISBT remained packed until 9 PM with passengers bound for different destinations. Ten buses were kept in reserve to be deployed as needed once passenger numbers increased.
