In a move to strengthen preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttarakhand, the Election Commission of India has deployed 167 additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) across the state. A formal notification regarding the appointments has been issued by the Commission.
At present, 70 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) level and 268 AEROs at the Tehsildar level are already functioning across Uttarakhand’s 70 Assembly constituencies. With the induction of the newly appointed officers, the total number of AEROs in the state has increased to 435, all of whom will be engaged in conducting and preparing for the Special Intensive Revision.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that the newly appointed 167 AEROs have been deployed exclusively for the SIR process. He explained that the appointments mainly include Block Development Officers, Executive Officers, Assistant Municipal Commissioners, Consolidation (Chakbandi) Officers, and other administrative officials.
He further stated that instructions have been issued to ensure effective contact, coordination, and communication with voters through the Booth Level Officer (BLO) Outreach Campaign. The EROs and AEROs will regularly monitor the outreach activities being carried out by BLOs to ensure smooth implementation of the revision exercise.

-Nainital: 11
-Udham Singh Nagar: 18
The enhanced manpower is expected to streamline voter outreach and ensure the effective execution of the Special Intensive Revision across Uttarakhand.
