Uttarakhand Snowfall Alert: Uttarakhand is experiencing intense cold conditions, with rain and snowfall continuing in the hilly regions. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for dense fog in the plains of Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar, which is expected to significantly reduce visibility. After three days of light snowfall on the higher mountain peaks, the weather has now turned dry.
Dense fog has engulfed Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, while frost continues to trouble the mountainous areas. Bright sunshine during the daytime is providing limited relief from the cold.
According to the Meteorological Department, cloud movement will persist at higher altitudes, and light snowfall may occur in some areas. Temperatures are expected to drop sharply, with minimum temperatures falling to minus 4 degrees Celsius in hilly districts such as Uttarkashi and Chamoli. Icy winds are likely to intensify frost conditions in the plains.
The cold wave is expected to continue across most parts of Uttarakhand, with the coldest conditions occurring during the morning and night. Dense fog is likely in the plains during the early morning hours, further reducing visibility.

Minimum temperatures in Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Roorkee and Udham Singh Nagar are expected to range between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius. Due to icy winds, the cold will feel more severe than the actual temperature. In hilly districts such as Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Rudraprayag, morning temperatures are expected to range between 1 and 3 degrees Celsius.
Night-time temperatures in the plains of Uttarakhand are forecast to fall between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius, while in the hilly regions they may drop to between minus 4 degrees Celsius and 0 degrees Celsius.
