Viral Video: Becoming a wholesome melting pot of cultural harmony, a dance stage in China witnessed history in making as a 13-year-old Chinese girl performed one of the most preached Indian dance forms, Bharatanatyam ‘Arangetram’. Lei Muzi, the star that shone too bright on the stage, has been reportedly learning Bharatanatyam for the past 10 years, and it's only now that she made her debut on the big stage in front of her Chinese audience, along with her teacher, Bharatanatyam dancer Leela Samson and Indian diplomats on August 11. What made her further special was that she learned the dance form in China, from her Chinese teacher, Jin Shan Shan.

“Lei's Arangetram is the first time that Chinese students trained by a Chinese teacher have completed in China, which is a landmark in the history of Bharatanatyam inheritance," Shan was quoted as saying to PTI. Coming to the young star herself, Muzi loved Bharatanatyam not only for its beauty but also because it embodied the ‘Indian culture’.

"I completely fell in love with it. I kept dancing till now. For me, Bharatanatyam is not only a beautiful art and dance form but also the embodiment of Indian culture,” Muzi was quoted as saying to PTI.

"This fascinates me greatly, as well as the gorgeous and graceful movements during a dance item. Overall, I extremely love Bharatanatyam. For me, it is already a daily activity to do, and I am truly interested in the culture of India,” she was further quoted as saying.

Video of Muzi performing in proper Bharatanatyam attire soon went viral on multiple social media platforms, garnering praise from netizens from all over India. People especially loved the mix of traditions and cultures that was displayed by the whole dynamics.

Coming to the dance form Arangetram, the performers of this dance form are reportedly only allowed to train others or perform on their own after their Arangetram, which is reportedly a debut performance for teachers and experts, along with the audiences.

The dance video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the news agency PTI. The post was captioned, “Lei Muzi, a 13-year-old school student, scripted history when she performed Bharatanatyam "Arangetram" in China, a landmark in the journey of the ancient Indian dance form that is gaining popularity in the neighbouring country.”
