American Woman Viral Video: Living in a new country can be an eye-opening experience, and for Kristen Fischer, an American mother of three who moved to India nearly four years ago, it has been nothing short of transformative. Recently, she shared a video on Instagram discussing ten things about India that she finds incredibly convenient—so much so that she wishes they were part of everyday life in the US.

One of the biggest game-changers for her has been India’s digital ecosystem, particularly UPI and digital IDs. The ease of making payments without carrying cash or cards is something she finds remarkable. “I can go out with only my phone, and that is enough,” she says, adding that UPI is so efficient that “the whole world should adopt” it.

Another thing that impresses her is the accessibility of autos and rickshaws. She describes them as “cheap, fast, and a very convenient way to get around.” Unlike in the US, where transportation can be expensive and often requires personal vehicles.

Healthcare in India, according to Fischer, is much more hassle-free compared to the US. She finds it refreshing that “most of the time no appointments are necessary, and no prescriptions are needed for medication.” In contrast, securing a doctor’s visit in the US can mean waiting for weeks, making urgent medical care much harder to access.

Another aspect of daily life in India that she appreciates is the free garbage collection system in cities like Delhi, unlike in the U.S., where waste disposal often comes with high fees. “I love hearing the musical trash truck come around, and everyone throws their garbage in,” she shares. Fischer also admires the affordability of skilled labour in India. “In America, if you need something done, you have to figure it out yourself because hiring help is just too expensive,” she explains.

Being a vegetarian, she finds the variety of plant-based food options in India far superior to those in the US. Another thing that stands out to her is how Indian doctors typically prescribe probiotics along with antibiotics. “It makes sense to me to take those two together to save the gut,” she says, appreciating the logical approach to maintaining gut health.

Another practical feature she loves is the MRP (Maximum Retail Price) system. Unlike in the U.S., where product prices can vary depending on the store, she finds it reassuring that in India, the price is clearly printed on the packaging. “You can know what something will cost no matter where you go, and that price is printed on the product label,” she notes.

Finally, Fischer is in awe of India’s rapid delivery services. Whether it’s groceries, medicines, or meals, she is amazed by how quickly orders arrive at her doorstep. “There are dozens of apps that will deliver virtually anything to your door in minutes. Yes, you read that right, minutes!” she exclaims. Her video has resonated with many, with people agreeing that these small yet significant conveniences make daily life in India much easier.
