Technology and the internet have made life a bit too easy for almost everyone across the world. In fact, there is no denying the fact that people have become way more dependent on internet services and there is almost nothing wrong with it. Until, of course, the same tech goes faulty and causes unnecessary hurdles. Becoming an unfortunate victim of the same ‘hurdles’, a man in Australia bore a loss of more than Rs 6 lakhs due to a map glitch.
The said man, Chris Pyatt, is a Thai restaurant owner in Australia, who sadly enough noticed a ‘significant downturn’ in his earnings for a couple of months, for a reason he had nothing to do with. Reportedly, the man’s restaurant, Pum's Kitchen, was displayed as ‘permanently closed’ on Apple Maps, which ended up misleading a number of customers in the months of November and December. The man, in fact, only got to know about his own restaurant ‘getting closed’ as per Apple Maps, after he began to receive inquiries about the same.
“But we have seen a sudden and drastic change in customer behaviour towards the end of November and all of December," Pyatt was quoted as saying to ABC Australia.
Rushing into action over the matter, Pyatt reportedly contacted the Apple customer service rep, but to no avail, as they could not ‘assist’ him. Pyatt later informed that the reason was that he was not an ‘Apple customer’. As per the reports, the poor owner was also asked to submit ‘online feedback’ for the issue, but nothing changed even after days of submitting the request.

Fortunately, the status did change in the end, but only after media outlets reached the app to share their comment on the entire incident. However, until then, the owner already has a significant loss for something he did not even do.
