Bengalur Woman Viral Video: Imagine booking a cab ride in Canada and finding out that your driver is actually a doctor, that’s exactly what happened to a woman from Bengaluru and her video about it has got everyone talking. The clip, shared by Meghana Srinivas, has gone viral for highlighting a harsh reality many immigrants face when they move abroad.

Meghana, who now lives in Canada, was traveling from Mississauga to Toronto when she met the driver, a man from Afghanistan. During their chat, she learned that he was once a military doctor who had served both the US and Canada. Now, he’s in Canada as a Permanent Resident (PR), studying to get his medical license so he can return to his profession. To support himself, the man drives a cab. Meghana revealed that he earns around $4,000 a month, but spends nearly $3,000 just on rent for a one-bedroom condo, leaving him with very little to save.

Sharing her experience, Meghana, who works as a realtor, used the story to send out an important message to anyone dreaming of moving abroad. “I would encourage all future students and newcomers to Canada to do thorough research before moving, not only about the education system or cities but also about the realities of life here. Understand the job market, cost of living, and what it takes to re-establish your career in a new country,” she advised, according to reports.

She further added, “Canada offers incredible opportunities, but success here requires preparation, adaptability, and patience. Come with skills that are in demand, an open mind to learn, and the determination to grow. If you do that, this country truly rewards your hard work and resilience.” Her video has sparked a larger discussion online about how moving abroad isn’t always as glamorous as it seems, and why careful planning is the real key to making a fresh start in another country.

The video shared four days ago received many comments from users. "What would you do if you had to restart your career from zero in a new country?" a user asked. "Guys, pls dont normalize driving Uber is a labor job, yes, every immigrant has to start from base level and while doing we do have to do odd jobs to survive - this is quite normal and based on individual potential," a second user wrote.

"Canada has equal opportunities for everyone," wrote a third user. "You are lucky if you get a job that matches your skills and pays you matching your worth. It takes years to get there," added a fourth user. "So, an Uber driver in Canada makes more than a doctor in India? Why not just go back to being a doctor in India, that makes the most sense," added another user.
