No matter how lavish office Diwali party one attends, or how extravagant festive gifts or bonuses employees receive from their organisations, the joy of visiting home during Diwali is simply unmatched. Keeping that in mind, it's safe to say that celebrating a ‘lonely Diwali’- the one away from home- is surely the one that mostly never excites anyone. Recalling a similar ‘lonely Diwali’, a Bengaluru woman took to her social media handle. Her post talked about how sad everything felt when she was left alone during the big festival, while the rest of her friends and flatmates returned home for the big occasion. However, amid all the loneliness, she recalled how a delivery man’s heartfelt gesture somewhat saved her lonely Diwali.

As per the post, the woman ordered something online, and the minute she opened the door to receive her order, she was greeted with a warm Diwali wish by the agent named Ramesh. Crediting Ramesh for bringing some relief on the otherwise lonely festive day, the woman clarified that the incident took place 5 years ago.

The post went viral and drew countless reactions. Most people lauded the delivery agent’s heartfelt gesture, while the rest recalled similar times when they ended up spending major festivals alone, far away from their families.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘surbhiskjain’. The post was captioned, “Five years ago, I was in Bangalore for Diwali, and it was a truly sad and lonely day. All my friends, flatmates, and colleagues had gone home. Home alone in a big society, the only person who wished me 'Happy Diwali' in person was Ramesh, the delivery guy who brought food along with a warm smile. Let's remember to show kindness to those who brighten our days, even in small ways.” The post was shared a while back and received 119K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “I'm going to experience this situation as this Diwali due to work not being able to go back home,” a user said. “This is giving off Harry Potter staying over at Hogwarts for Christmas energy. But yes, approve the sentiment,” added a second person.

“This is what I love about our country. Many of us who run behind career goals or setting businesses forget to take a break and wish others for their well-being or wish them happy Diwali. People like Ramesh always make us think which is more important in life,” added a third user.
