Catwalk In Burqa: Attempting to bring a modern twist, a one-of-its-kind fashion show was organised in the Shri Ram College in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. However, the entire thing turned into a nightmare after its video went viral, which began to receive major flak. The said fashion show included a catwalk sequence where the women were seen in Burqa. Giving a strong reaction against the show, the Jamiat-e-Ulema also released a statement that primarily read that the Burqa was NOT part of a ‘fashion show’. The fashion show was reportedly part of the college event ‘Splash 2023’. 

Jamiat-e-Ulema also reportedly warned the college and the students to take ‘action’ if such a show is held again in the future. The students, on the other hand, reportedly wanted to do something for the women of the ‘Muslim Community’. 

The video was shared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) by the handle ‘enghinditweets’. The post was captioned, “Catwalk in burqa in Shriram College, Muzaffarnagar!! Jamiat Ulema said – Burqa is not a part of fashion, it is used for curtain. College students should not do this in the future,”

The viral clip of the fashion show is widely doing rounds on social media and has left the netizens divided. On one hand, most chastised the women for showing the burqa as a ‘fashion accessory’, while others encouraged the women for their attempt to make the best out of the attire. The video was shared yesterday and has amassed a number of views.

Taking to the internet, people shared their take. “BURQA IS NOT FOR FASHION!! Catwalk in burqa in Shriram College, Muzaffarnagar, India!!” said a user. “Catwalk in burqa in Shriram College, Muzaffarnagar!! Jamiat Ulema said...Burqa is not a part of fashion, it is used for curtains. College students should not do this in future,” added a second person. “Catwalk in burqa in Shriram College, Muzaffarnagar!! Jamiat Ulema said– Burqa is not a part of fashion, it is used for curtain. College students should not do this in future,” said a third person. 

“Perhaps for the 1st time, electronic media witnessed CATWALK IN BURQA in Rawalpindi court today,” added another. “Fashion Show: Catwalk by Burqa-clad women in Sri Ram College .. Music is Arabic,” said a next.
