Mathura Train Accident: Leaving the Mathura train station with a destroyed platform and broken electric pole, the Mathura train accident joined the list of major accidents that happened because of ‘silly drunken mistakes’. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh on September 26, after the said train from Shakur Basti reached Mathura Junction. The reason behind the accident was revealed after CCTV footage from inside the train surfaced online and left the netizens questioning the Railways safety and security. The CCTV video showed a staff member putting his backpack on the throttle of the train’s engine after he entered the coach. The man who was also reportedly mildly drunk, was busy on his phone while the incident unfolded. Taking action into the matter, the authorities initiated a probe, and five officials were reportedly suspended after the investigation.
The video was shared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) by the user Harsh Tyagii. The post was captioned, “Mathura Train accident caught on camera.”
In the video, the staff member was seen entering the train. The man responsible for the accident then went on to put his backpack on the throttle of the engine, while he was busy on his phone the entire time. After putting the bag down, the man went back to his phone. After a while, the train suddenly moved forward, destroying some part of the platform and an electric pole.

The video instantly went viral as people chastised the man over his carelessness. Many called it one of the many train accidents that had taken place in the last few months and also blamed the authorities. The video surfaced a day back and pulled several views.
