Chennai Airport Viral News: A photo taken outside Chennai International Airport has sparked a major debate online, showing how public spaces in India still struggle with basic civic sense. The viral picture on X shows a young boy urinating near a pillar while a woman, believed to be his mother, stands beside him. The image was posted by Reclaim Chennai Streets with a strong caption that read, “NRIs come back and the first thing they do is make their kids piss right in front of the airport. The kid was apprehensive, but the mom told him it was fine to piss like this. Will they dare to do this in any other country?”

Soon after it was shared, the post caught everyone’s attention and led to a wave of criticism. Many users slammed the act as an example of poor civic responsibility, while others questioned why people continue to ignore public hygiene even in well-maintained areas like airports.

As the discussion grew, social media users called for stricter action and better awareness about maintaining cleanliness in public spaces. The post shared yesterday pulled 205K views from social media users. "This is rare, I have never seen this in an airport exit before, either way disgusting," a user wrote. "Don’t paint all NRIs with the same brush.. I suspect this would be a rarity, not the norm," a second user wrote.

"Feel truly sorry for all the children whose parents are like this. Have seen fathers on a bike with their child sitting in the back, riding without a helmet and jumping traffic lights. Have seen parents lower the car window and throw trash whilst their children are inside," added a third user. "Carrying a wide-lid plastic bottle for emergencies is not too far-fetched," added a fourth user.

"The fact that she and her child are not surrounded and questioned on this act right after the water is gone, is more sad than the picture and this habit will continue when the child goes to his house and street," a fifth user added. "Well, this is disgusting. What values are we teaching our kids? The next generation expects to change. We can't carry on like this," added another user.
