Delhi AQI Memes: This Diwali, Delhi woke up to the familiar haze that has become an annual tradition and social media couldn’t stop reacting. As the city celebrated on October 20 with hours of firecrackers, the next morning brought an AQI that left many gasping, with some joking it was worse than anything. By October 21, Delhi’s air quality had plunged to 344, marking it as ‘very poor.’ Several areas, including Dwarka (417), Wazirpur (423), Ashok Vihar (404), and Anand Vihar (404), hit the ‘severe’ pollution level, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Out of 38 monitoring stations, 36 were in the ‘red zone.’

While the smog made breathing difficult, Delhiites took to Twitter, Instagram and other platforms to vent their frustration, mostly with memes, jokes and funny comparisons. Social media was flooded with creative posts mocking the smog, highlighting how the city’s post-Diwali air pollution has become a predictable, if unfortunate, part of the festival.
