Paratha, hands down, is one of the best Indian foods that has a separate fanbase altogether. The ample options that one gets, from ‘Aloo Paratha’, ‘Gobi paratha’ to ‘Paneer Paratha’ and whatnot, only adds to the excitement around the mouth-watering dish. Of course, it's one of the most preferred meals in India. However, keeping this clip in mind, the real question has turned into- how far can one go to express their love for parathas? And the answer, seemingly for this Chandigarh dhaba, is ‘very far’.
The video went viral on social media which claimed that a Chandigarh dhaba cooked paratha in diesel. A video of the Dhaba’s cook was shared online, where he was seen allegedly frying a paratha in diesel. The video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘nebula_world’. The post was captioned, “True recipe for cancer (petrol diesel wala paratha) Where are we heading?”
Most people expressed their concerns over the severe health issues that the paratha might lead to, while the rest questioned the choices the cook and his customers were making. However, after fact check, it was revealed that the parantha was not cooked in diesel but in oil. The post was also later deleted.
Reacting to the viral video, the owner of the dhaba claimed, "We neither make any such thing as 'diesel paratha' nor serve any such thing to customers. A blogger had made that video just for fun. It is common sense that nobody would consume a paratha prepared in diesel nor is it cooked like that. I didn't know that the video was going viral, I came to know only yesterday. The blogger in question has deleted it and apologised to the people."
He added, "We use only edible oil. We provide hygienic food to people here. We also supply langar from here. We don't play with people's lives"
