Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama Dies At 68: The Anime world woke up to a bitter news today, as the website of the much-loved and a gateway anime for many, Dragon Ball, broke the news of its creator Akira Toriyama passing away at the age of 68. The ‘legend’ breathed his last on March 01, whereas the statement went public today, March 08, by his production studio. Toriyama died due to subdural hematoma, which as per the statement, is a ‘type of bleeding near the brain’. As soon as the sad news made it to the headlines, the fans were quick to extend their condolences and express their grief as they recalled the role the anime played in their lives.
The comic series of the beloved anime hit the stores in 1984 and was quick to take its fans on a magical journey that had almost everything. From dragons, aliens, magic, and power to hard work, emotions, touching arcs, and whatnot, the story reeled in millions of people as the fandom only grew in number with the passing years. Dragon Ball is often considered one of the very first anime that many anime lovers began their ‘animeverse journey’ with. The story followed the life of the young and curious boy Son Goku, who was on a journey to collect magical dragon balls to use them against Saiyans, to defend the Earth.
