Gandhi Jayanti: As the whole of India is celebrating the 154th Gandhi Jayanti on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, people from across the world also joined the celebrations and poured their wishes and tribute to Gandhi ji on the big day. Amid the Gandhi Jayanti festivities, German singer Cassandra Mae Spittmann remembered Mahatma Gandhi in her own musical way, as she shared a video of her singing Gandhi ji’s favourite bhajan ‘Vaishnava Jana To’ on her Instagram handle. The video instantly won several hearts as people loved her performance. Amid all the admirers, the singer also garnered praise from one of the most influential personalities in the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the PM reshared the viral video and lauded CassMae’s singing skills. 

The post was shared on PM Modi’s official X handle. The caption read, “Gandhi Ji’s thoughts strike a chord with people all around the world! Do hear this soulful rendition of “Vaishnava Jana To” sung by CassMae, whom I had recently mentioned during #MannKiBaat. She has shared it on her Instagram page.”

In the video, the German singer donned a pink saree and aced Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite bhajan ‘Vaishnava Jana To’. Cassandra’s singing video was shared on her official Instagram handle yesterday. “Tomorrow is Gandhi Jayanti and I practiced Gandhijis favorite Bhajan so much to get the notes and lyrics right,” read Spittmann’s Instagram post. 

PM Modi’s appreciation post instantly went viral as people loved the singer’s tribute to Gandhi ji. Many hailed the effect that Gandhi ji and his ideologies had all across the world, while others commended the German singer’s vocals that sounded a lot like the Indian classical singers.

People also reacted to CassMae’s post on Instagram. “I just wish you a wonderful Sunday and an amazing upcoming week,” a person commented. “Loads and loads of love from Mumbai,” said another. “Gujarati language, thank you, sister,” said another.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on October 02, to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The Indian lawyer played a huge role in the Independence of India and introduced the world to the power of non-violence. The political ethicist heavily preached peace and harmony, due to which, the world also celebrates the International Day of Non-Violence as a tribute to Gandhi ji.
