Bengaluru Mom Viral Video: A Bengaluru nutritionist, Sonakshi Sharma, faced backlash after a parenting video she shared went viral. The clip aimed to show how baby-led weaning (BLW) isn't just a Western concept but something Indian moms have always done. However, viewers were upset when the video showed her baby eating in a high chair while her house help’s child sat on the floor eating kheer and roti. Many felt it showed inequality. Sonakshi responded, saying the clips were shot on different days and the child chose to sit on the floor. “I don’t practice idiotic things like untouchability in 2025 for god’s sake!” she said. She added, “You’re seeing a 'Househelp’s child' sitting on the floor while I’m seeing JUST A CHILD who chose to sit on the floor. The same way my daughter would sometimes choose to do. The same floor where we regularly sit and eat.”
The video went viral and triggered mixed reactions, turning a simple parenting tip into a conversation about class, perception, and privilege.

The video shared one day ago on Instagram under the username 'fitnaari.india' received 3 million views from social media users. Users were quick to react to the viral video in the comment section. "God!! All the drama queens are crying in the comments because the kid is sitting on the floor. It's an Indian household, we all sit on the floor," a user wrote. "You are a ‘nutritionist’ but your help’s toddler is eating roti and Dahi at your house?! Where is the protein for that child?! At least when the child is eating at your place, make sure the toddler of your household has a healthy meal," a second user added.
"My heart breaks for the child sitting on the ground. There's no excuse, they're taught to know their place due to their poverty, as an adult, it is our job to ensure to break the toxic cycle. My helper's child also naturally sits on the floor because she's been taught that, but I ensure that they sit at our dining table because this is so dehumanizing and degrading," added a third user. "My father-in-law eats sitting on the floor, my husband eats sitting on the floor, I ask my son to sit on the floor while eating( he used to sit in a high chair when he was a baby), so what's wrong here?" a fourth user wrote.

"Interesting to see how people here are missing the whole point of this reel, and are crying about the child sitting on the floor instead, and other equally unnecessary things.. tells a lot about our society," added a fifth user. "Please try to ensure the kid sits on a table or the couch. Looks big enough not to make a mess. Especially when there is another child sitting in a high chair. Your intentions seem good, but the difference was quite visible in this video, and even if at home, you might be treating your help well, but when you put such videos on social media, people are going to judge," added another user
