Viral Reddit Post: Some stories on the internet instantly make you smile, and this one from Reddit is winning hearts for all the right reasons. A young man recently shared how his manager surprised him with rare kindness. On r/IndianWorkplace, under the title “Indian manager with American/European mentality,” the man uploaded a screenshot of a short chat that revealed just how caring his manager really is.

In the screenshot, the employee sends a simple message: “Good morning, I am working from home today. Neck issues.” Instead of doubting him or asking unnecessary questions, his manager replies with genuine concern: “Ok. Do you have anyone to take you to the hospital?”

The moment he explains that his flatmate will go along, the manager’s reassuring tone continues. She writes, "Keep me posted with an update on what the doctor says, hope it's just stomach flu and not something serious.” A response like this left many online wishing their workplace felt the same.

In the caption, the man shared that this wasn’t a rare moment. He said that every time he feels sick, his manager is “incredibly supportive,” even telling him to rest the next day if needed. She often warns him not to waste his paid leave and instead take WFH, even if he can’t actually work, because his health matters more.

"My previous manager was the same way. He was equally kind and understanding. Honestly, I think I’ve been really lucky with the managers I’ve had," he concluded his post. People in the comments reacted with a mix of admiration and jealousy, praising the manager for showing the kind of empathy many employees only hope for.

"Both my managers at a Big4 were really nice. Once I had only 3 leaves left, I planned a week-long trip. I told my immediate manager that I would work from home for 2 days, and she told her manager (my senior manager) and he asked me to take 5 days off and he would transfer 2 of his leaves to me," a user shared their experience. "I work in the manufacturing sector and even when I leave work after working overtime, I have to inform my manager. I'd kill to have a manager like this," a second user wrote.

"So sweet of her. My manager is also very cool. She has asked everyone in the team to just put leaves as a text on Slack and never question why. I have one question: Is it common for people to communicate with their coworkers on WhatsApp? Never did so," wrote a third user. "My manager is super chill. Never forced me to work extra, even worked my shift when I was under immense pressure, supported me against one of the seniors when he was bullying me in my initial period," added another user.
