Viral Video: Even when dreams don’t go as planned, love for a place can remain strong. That’s the story of Ananya Joshi, an Indian woman who recently said an emotional goodbye to the US, the country she called her 'first home as a financially independent adult.' Ananya had been living in the US and documenting her journey through social media, sharing snippets of her life, work and experiences. But after getting laid off from her biotech startup and struggling to find a new job, she had no choice but to return to her parents, who live in Dubai.

On September 29, Ananya shared a heartfelt video, expressing her bittersweet farewell. She wrote, “By far the hardest step in this journey. Even though I seemed to have accepted my reality, nothing could have prepared me for this day. America was my first home as a financially independent adult and that will always be a special thing to me. Though short-lived, I really appreciate the life you gave me, AMERICA, I LOVE YOU.”

In the video, she said goodbye to friends, boarded a plane and later revealed she had landed in Dubai. She also added, “I did it, guys. I left the US and the ‘American Dream’ with it.”

"I really admire the way you’ve handled all the negativity with such grace and positivity. It’s inspiring to see how you didn’t let the mocking or trolling affect your spirit, but instead chose to respond with dignity. People often forget that your success and privilege are the result of your parents’ knowledge, sacrifices, and hard work, not anyone’s favour. The way you’ve embraced this moment with strength and kindness truly deserves respect," added a fourth user.
